Course Description
Allergies pose a serious health risk in care settings. Allergic reactions can escalate within minutes, triggered by foods, medications, insect stings, or latex. For older people, multiple medications, chronic conditions, and age-related immune changes increase their vulnerability, making timely recognition and intervention critical to preventing serious complications or death.
This training will enable staff to identify early warning signs, and respond appropriately, in a timely manner. This knowledge will support a culture of safety, confidence, and professional, person-centred care.
Course Aim: Allergies affect millions of people and can range from mild reactions to life-threatening emergencies. This course aims to equip learners with the knowledge and practical skills to understand allergies, identify common allergens, recognise the signs and symptoms of allergic reactions, and respond appropriately.
