Course Description
This course explores your role and the role of others in maintaining health and safety in the workplace.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, you should be able to:
* Understand your own responsibilities, and the responsibilities of others, relating to health and safety in your work setting
* Understand why risk assessment is important and how to report any health and safety concerns you identify
* Move and assist people and objects safely, in line with agreed ways of working and while maintaining dignity
* Follow procedures for responding to accidents and sudden illness, including knowing what emergency first aid actions you can and cannot carry out
* Understand your responsibilities around medication and delegated healthcare tasks, and only carry these out when you are trained and competent
* Handle hazardous substances safely, following COSHH and your organisation’s policies
* Promote fire safety and know what to do if a fire starts
* Work securely, including following lone working and security procedures to protect yourself and the people you support
* Manage your own and others’ mental health and personal wellbeing, recognising common stressors and knowing how to access support and resources
