Course Description
Failure to maintain standards and safe practice can affect the individual, health professional and the organisation. This course explores the concept of duty of care and how it is applied within care and support settings.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, you should be able to:
* Explain duty of care and duty of candour, and how they affect your role
* Describe how to apply duty of care in practice and where dilemmas arise with people’s rights/choices
* Recognise and respond to adverse events, incidents, errors and near misses in line with law and local policy
* Use communication and risk assessment to reduce confrontation and know when/how to get support
