Course Description
This course explores how to work in a person-centred way so people keep control over their care and what matters to them, including mental capacity, consent and future care planning.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, you should be able to:
* Understand and apply person-centred values in all aspects of care and support.
* Explain why person-centred practice matters and how it improves outcomes for individuals.
* Recognise each person’s history, preferences and wishes, and reflect changes in the care or support plan.
* Understand mental capacity and consent, including legislation, best-interest decisions and advance statements or decisions.
* Identify and respond to factors causing discomfort, distress or pain, and raise concerns appropriately.
* Promote individuality, dignity, independence, self-esteem and wellbeing through everyday interactions.
